I think that Ms Hatty and Grace Anne shouldn't of had die because the were nice to all the people and they didin't care what skin color the people were. The theme about this story is to not judge people about how they look. Jerremy Simms is telling the story pa is charlie simms Rw and Melvin are Jerremy's brothers Mr John Wallace is white Rudine Johnson and Mrs johnson are black and Josias was the person who saved the people in the bridge. The setting of the story is in 1931 after slavery.

I thank that the theme is you should not judge people by there coloer. What I think about the auther is,she wrote this story so people know how colored people were treated. What I think about the story it was inspiering to me because even though blacks were treatred bad one help and did what he belevied in himself thats the resason why I think the book is inspiering.
